Lorenzo Fracchia appointed to lead the Group’s AI journey as Director of AI Program
Milan, 1 September 2026
RGI, Europe’s leading provider of software platforms for the insurance industry, is accelerating its Artificial Intelligence journey with the definition of its Group AI Program and the appointment of Lorenzo Fracchia as Director of AI Program.
The initiative establishes a common governance framework and a shared strategic vision for the numerous AI initiatives already underway across the Group, bringing them together under a coordinated roadmap and supporting their continued evolution.
An industry entering a new phase
Artificial Intelligence is opening a new chapter for the insurance industry, reshaping the way insurers design products, manage processes and engage with customers and policyholders. For a provider of core insurance platforms, this means rethinking not only the capabilities delivered to customers, but also the way software is designed, developed and continuously evolved.
In this scenario, RGI starts from a distinctive position. With 40 years of experience in the insurance market, deep expertise in insurers’ core processes and a strong technology and innovation heritage, the company has become one of Europe’s leading players in the digital transformation of the insurance industry. Over the past two years, the Group has progressively introduced AI-powered capabilities into its insurance platforms, while launching also AI initiatives supporting internal software development and implementation activities.
The new Program is a further evolution on this path, to bring the initiatives together within a common framework, strengthen consistency and collaboration across the Group and guide their future evolution through a shared strategic roadmap.
“Artificial Intelligence represents one of the most significant transformations our industry is facing. At RGI, our AI journey has been underway for some time now and has already resulted in a number of tangible initiatives, spanning both the evolution of our insurance platforms and the way we operate. Today, we are taking the next step: rather than chasing hype, we are establishing a structured framework that brings these initiatives together, gives them a common direction and turns them into capabilities that create value for both our customers and our organization,” said Gianni Camisa, Group CEO of RGI.
A program built around two strategic pillars
RGI’s AI Program is structured around two main strategic pillars.
The first focuses on the evolution of RGI’s market offering through the integration of Artificial Intelligence into the Group’s insurance platforms. Today, several RGI solutions already incorporate AI-powered capabilities, ranging from user assistance to intelligent access to information. Examples of initiatives already underway include the AI assistant embedded within RGI Product Designer, the Group’s product configuration platform, designed to support users in writing rules and tariffs for insurance products, as well as the conversational search engine for claims documentation. The new AI Program aims to consolidate these initiatives, progressively extend them to other application areas and accelerate their development within a shared Group-wide strategy.
Future releases will include the progressive rollout of AI Agents to support key insurance processes and the activities of insurance intermediaries, automation of repetitive and low-value tasks, advanced tools for product documentation access, and new ways of interacting with RGI platforms. The objective is to support the daily work of insurance companies and their distribution networks, while enhancing the policyholder experience through increasingly intelligent, integrated and value-oriented solutions.
The second strategic pillar focuses on applying AI across internal software development, delivery and business processes, a journey already underway with the development of RGI CodeAgentFlow, a framework designed to automate and streamline platform implementation processes. In this area, the Program aims to identify and develop applications that enhance operational effectiveness, collaboration and innovation capabilities, supporting the evolution of the Group’s operating model.
A group-wide governance
Lorenzo Fracchia has been appointed to lead the Program, bringing more than ten years of experience in project and innovation management across the insurance and banking industries, with a particular focus on core insurance processes, P&C products and digital payments.
As Director of AI Program, Lorenzo Fracchia will coordinate AI initiatives across the Group, fostering alignment between business areas and contributing to the definition of the Program’s strategic journey.
“The value of AI lies in its ability to address real business needs through practical applications. My role is to build on what the Group has already achieved by creating a common framework that enables existing initiatives across the Group to evolve in a coordinated way, identifying those with the greatest impact for both customers and the organization,” said Lorenzo Fracchia, Head of AI Program at RGI.
A long-term commitment
With its Group AI Program, RGI reinforces its pragmatic approach to innovation by establishing a governance model designed to support the long-term evolution of Artificial Intelligence across the Group. By combining deep insurance expertise, technology and execution excellence, the Program will transform emerging technologies into tangible business value while creating the conditions to turn today’s distributed initiatives into a shared, consistent and scalable strategy.
The Group AI Program represents the next step in RGI’s Artificial Intelligence journey, transforming a portfolio of initiatives already underway into a shared, scalable and long-term strategy capable of supporting the Group’s continued evolution and creating tangible value for the insurance market.
